It is an established tradition that MBA Alumni come back to Pforzheim on a regular basis to meet with current students and talk about their professional and personal experiences after finishing their MBA in Pforzheim. Of course the last meeting was as always very interactive and full of useful advice for our current students. Alumni shared how the graduation from the MBA program helped them to pursue their future career and on what issues students should focus during their studies in order to find themselves better equipped for their future professional life.

MBA students did not have to travel too far, since they were hosted by the local family-owned company, one of the regions “hidden champions”, Witzenmann GmbH, located in Pforzheim. At the company site the students were introduced to Witzenmann’s view on “Strategy and Sustainability” and “Innovation Management”. The day ended with a very interesting company tour.

This German family-owned company, dating back to the 1910s, has now 30 years of successful experience in producing vacuum technology in the areas of automation, handling and clamping technology. After a short introduction into the company and its history, he started with his presentation on the strong intangible connection between responsible management and economic success.

The latter was the case when we welcomed Dr. Schröder of Siemens Healthcare and Dr Löffler of McKinsey, for two very interesting talks and valuable insights in day-to-day as well as future business management regarding the subjects sustainability and innovation management.

Situated in southern Germany, a region traditionally strong in engineering excellence and renowned for its competitive industries, Pforzheim University is surrounded by some of the world’s most succesful companies. Taking advantage of this geographical privilege, the program offers its third semester students an opportunity to apply their management knowledge in the real business world through a 3 to 4-month long company project. In winter semester 2014/15, our MBA students will work in five teams with Daimler AG, Siemens Healthcare, MANN+HUMMEL and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG on a diverse range of projects.
